
Within the scope of educational activities carried out by the Department of Midwifery at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Ondokuz Mayıs University, a guest speaker event was organized to contribute to the professional development of students.
As part of the fall semester curriculum and within the course Management in Midwifery, conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurdan Kaya Yılmaz, midwife Merve Burcu Akyüz, who works at the Atakum Healthy Life Center affiliated with the Atakum District Health Directorate, participated in the class as a guest speaker. Akyüz delivered a presentation entitled “Career Development in Midwifery,” sharing her professional experiences with the students.
During the event, topics such as career planning in the midwifery profession, opportunities for professional development, and field experiences were discussed. The students had the opportunity to gain practice-oriented knowledge about professional life and to increase their awareness of career planning.
Officials from the Department of Midwifery stated that such academic and professionally oriented activities strengthen students’ professional competencies and contribute to shaping their career goals in a more informed and conscious manner.
