An awareness event on women's cancers was organized by the Midwifery Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ).
The event was held as part of the EBE416 Integrated Applications II course, led by Dr. Şükran Başgöl, and in collaboration with the OMÜ Midwifery Community students.
At a stand set up in the OMÜ Life Center, Dr. Şükran Başgöl and Midwifery Community students provided information about women's cancers and the importance of early diagnosis. The event focused on raising awareness in the community, particularly regarding breast cancer, cervical cancer, and other gynecological cancers.
Informative brochures were also distributed at the stand to help participants access accurate and reliable information about cancer screenings. Practical demonstrations were given using educational models, emphasizing the life-saving role of early diagnosis and raising awareness about the importance of regular screenings.
Throughout the event, OMÜ students and staff visiting the Life Center showed great interest in the information stand. Through this event, midwifery students had the opportunity to use their professional knowledge and skills for the benefit of society, while also actively contributing to community-based health education.
